Strategic Support

LandPro offers a range of services that are difficult to define within traditional land use planning. They include a variety of names/terms that reinforce the unique focus of LandPro:

  • This involves having LandPro's trained professionals complete an independent review of a controversial development application, or of a draft report commissioned from another firm. In both cases, our staff work for the municipality and provide our professional opinion towards Peer reviews are often used to get a 2nd opinion on a controversial, or large application, where Council may need additional comfort before making a decision. They may also be helpful where the municipal staff do not have the right training (ie. urban design, heritage, environmental planning) and need outside expertise. Regardless of the size, scope or nature of the application, LandPro has the professional staff needed to get the job done.LandPro's professionals have completed several peer reviews for municipalities.   • Grant writing is primarily for municipal clients wanting to apply for various capital and operating grants, yet not always having capacity or specialized staff able to make applications themselves. Writing grants takes considerable time and energy, often spent anticipating the language and content that the grant issuer expects or wants to read.

    LandPro has experience in writing grants, knowing the language and approach to take to give the municipality the best chance of success. Let's discuss your needs!

  • This service is primarily for private sector clients desiring to consider their options for developing one or more properties. This sets the tone for future development applications, providing the owner(s) with the information needed to make an informed decision on when and how to develop a single or multiple properties. Often this service ends with an application being made. Yet, it can just inform the client and be used to add value to the property as part of a sale. Imagine having a report, signed by a Registered Professional Planner, advising of the options to develop a property. That's the value!

    LandPro regularly provides development options to its clients, from which they pick their preferred option for presentation to the municipality at a Pre-Consultation meeting.

  • These normally are for public sector clients, including smaller and more specific projects that may take a customized approach to complete. Examples are reviewing the zoning for a downtown or specific neighbourhood, review of development standards for residential or commercial zones, and even updating CIP criteria based on Council's direction.

    Reporting on legislative and regulatory changes could also be a service. WIth Bills 23, 109, 97 and others changing the planning world's rules, Planning management may not have time to keep up with everything. LandPro can assist. In addition, Council may wish to have an independent review of the legal changes. This would include using plain language, perhaps with a focus on graphic images for ease of understanding by Council and Committee.

    Special projects could also be a task dlegated to the Director by Council, that keeps getting delayed due to competing priorities. LandPro would be pleased to discuss, define and execute on your behalf.

  • In today's market where staffing shortages and higher wages dominate, municipalities often have difficulty attracting, then retaining qualified staff. This is where LandPro is available to provide short-term and longer additional capacity that can assist with development application review, starting with Pre-Consultation and including Committee and/or Council reports, as well as supporting OLT appeals.LandPro has the trained and experienced professionals to supplement your existing department, as needed. Our trained professionals include Registered Professional Planners, Urban Designers, and researchers. We also offer Administrative support, as needed.

Drawn urban design plans

Urban Planning

LandPro offers in-house design services for all your commercial, industrial and residential projects. This includes single properties, site plans up to subdivisions/condominiums and master plans.

Our design work begins with a Plan of Survey, which allows us to create accurate drawings, at which point the design process begins. We use AutoCad for drawing and SketchUp for translating these 2D drawings into 3D renderings. Our designers will help bring your plans to life!

We will provide visual designs that help deliver a clear, solid and understandable message. These images are normally used for reports, public meeting and open house presentations as needed.
